Round Rock Tourism and the New Developments it Brings

Round Rock Tourism and the New Developments it Brings

Like many suburbs of growing cities, Round Rock is looking into better ways to market itself and pull in the tourism dollars that seem to flow into Austin. Understanding what will drive tourists to the city to boost the town’s economy is the first step in making sure that the current hotel boom has people to fill the rooms when construction ends.

A tourism market research firm, Destination Analysts, has been awarded a $150,000 contract to dig into the economic impact of tourism, image perceptions visitors have of the city of Round Rock, and identifying potential new attraction types for the city.

After years of identifying as “The Sports Capital of Texas,” we’re curious if the survey results that Destination Analysts conducts on visitors of the city for a large part of a year will conclude that others view the city in a new light.

This decision to dig into the current marketing efforts and branding of the city comes in the midst of the hotel building boom in Round Rock, Pflugerville, and Hutto. From boutique hotels featuring less than 50 rooms to some more massive constructions set to hold a little less than 1,000 rooms, the hospitality industry is alive and well.

Four hotels have opened this year and four are still in the process of being built, including the Kalahari Resorts & Conventions. There’s no doubt that these hotels have a lot riding on what is found from the in-person surveys of hotel guests and day-trip visitors as well as the online surveys, video interviews, and meetings with sports and events planners.

Round Rock is a beautiful city to call home, and it looks like city officials are digging into the best ways to move out of Austin’s shadows and increase economic revenues by visitors stopping into the city. If these creative efforts and hotel booms have you interested in moving to Round Rock and being a part of the new developments, contact our team! We’re happy to give you more insights on the area and where we see the changes taking this wonderful community.
