The Ultimate Bucket List for the Best Summer Ever

Summer in Texas, while HOT, is the perfect season to spend some quality time with friends and family! Looking for things to do? For a summer of fun in the sun – hosting a backyard barbecue, relaxing on the porch or floating the Guadalupe river - take a look at this ultimate bucket list for the best summer ever:

  1. Create a seasonal wreath to hang over your front door.
  2. Buy new porch furniture – swing, rocking chairs, wicker chairs, etc. - to enjoy the summer outside.
  3. Sip on a refreshing summer-themed drink.
  4. Make a DIY backyard Connect Four board.
  5. Break out the grill.
  6. Drink lemonade or tea on your porch.
  7. Host a backyard barbecue, potluck picnic or cookout with family and friends.
  8. Hang string lights over your porch.
  9. Read a book and lounge on your hammock for an afternoon of peaceful relaxation.
  10. Spend a sunny afternoon at the lake (Lady Bird Lake, Lake Travis, Lake Austin), swimming hole (Deep Eddy, Barton Creek, Hamilton Pool), pool, river (Guadalupe), etc.
  11. Go antiquing in Salado, Round Top, etc.
  12. Decorate your home for the Fourth of July by hanging patriotic pleated fans on your porch.
  13. Up your backyard ambiance by adding some lanterns.
  14. Make homemade ice cream or popsicles.
  15. Make something with fresh peaches – grilled peaches, peach cobbler, etc.
  16. Hang a rope swing to entertain the kids.
  17. Go canoeing, kayaking or paddle boarding.
  18. Explore Austin’s wall murals – “Greetings from Austin,” “You’re My Butter Half,” “I Love You So Much,” and more.
  19. Get outside and play a game: croquet, bocce ball, corn hole, lawn darts, etc.
  20. Take a hike or bike ride.
  21. Clean out your home and host a yard sale.
  22. Take a road trip.
  23. Visit a farmers’ market.
  24. Bake a cherry or apple pie for Fourth of July.
  25. Go camping or glamping.
  26. Go berry picking in Marble Falls.
  27. Listen to live music and drink a cold Shiner in Luckenbach.
  28. Hike up Enchanted Rock.
  29. Sip on a glass of wine at a Fredericksburg winery.
  30. Take me out to a Round Rock Express ball game.
  31. Make s’mores around a bonfire.
  32. Head out for a weekend trip to the beach.
  33. Plan a staycation in Austin, Georgetown, etc.
