Home Design Predictions 2017
Design trends, just like the weather, are continuously changing. Year after year, design experts predict the next trend for home design. So, as the end of the year approaches, let’s look to the New Year to determine what the future holds for interior design trends. What’s coming in 2017? Take a look:
Cerused Wood – This style of wood, known for its ability to highlight the grain and textures in wood, seems to be a popular choice in homes this coming year. Flooring and cabinets will be the most popular locations for this wood style.
Marble – Who knew there would come a time when granite would fizzle out? Well, 2017 looks to be that year - granite is out, and marble is in! It sounds like this stone will be used for more than just countertops in 2017. Look for a marble design in everything from wallpaper to fabrics.
Statement Headboards – Stylish and bold statement headboards will stay in style in 2017. Adding a bright focal point to the head of your bed is the perfect finish to any bedroom.
Shiny Metal Hardware – Just like statement headboards, shiny metal hardware, like copper knobs in the bedroom or kitchen, can add an eclectic design element and an eye-catching focal point in any room of the home. Modern metals include copper (rose gold), bronze and brass. Also, consider trying out a different metal faucet in the kitchen – it will definitely earn you a couple of compliments!
Matte Appliances – You know how it was hard to believe granite was going out of style? Well, it may be more unbelievable to hear that stainless steel will no longer be the go-to appliance option for the kitchen. For 2017, it looks like matte appliances will be the go-to choice. The less subtle pop of dark matte appliances is sure to be a winner in 2017.
Wallpaper – Solid walls out? Wallpaper in? It looks as if wallpaper is making a comeback in 2017. If wallpaper feels a little too busy and bold to you, consider using wallpaper as an accent wall – doing so will add a subtle pop of interest without taking over your house!
These aren’t the only trends for the coming year – just a couple of my favorites. For the other trends coming in the New Year, click here.
